Sant Jordi is the patron saint of several territories and nations, including Catalonia, Aragon, Portugal, England, Djibouti, etc. Sant Jordi was a Roman soldier of Greek origin who converted to Christianity and died as a martyr for not wanting to abjure his faith. He is revered in most Christian denominations and in Islam, so he has become one of the most popular saints, especially during the Middle Ages. However, his historicity is disputed and, probably, he is a legendary personage.
